Advanced Open Water Classes
Advanced Open Water Classes are normally scheduled on a Saturday and Sunday at a local lake. Your class is kept small (a maximum 8 divers) so that everyone can receive all of the personal attention they need. The cost for the complete course is $155.00. This fee is for instruction only and does not include any rentals, lake fees, air fills or the required books or equipment. If you are renting equipment you should reserve it at least 10 days in advance. Rental fees must be paid to reserve the equipment. You will receive a student kit which includes 5 books and final exams, the cost of the student kit is additional so that couples or familes can share a student kit.
The rental package is available at a special student rate of $115.00. This rental includes all of the equipment you will need for the weekend with the exception of mask, fins, snorkel, boots, slate, dive light, tank light, gloves, log book, dive tables, Pelican marker, ground cloth, air fills and lake fees. If you are using your own or borrowed equipment it must be brought into the store at least 10 days prior to the class to be approved by your instructor.
Before the Class
Open water Certification, Juniors can now take this
course and receive a Junior Advanced Open Water Certification.
There is one class session prior to the Advanced Open
Water Dives. Prior to that class you will need to carefully
read the Textbooks and complete all of the Knowledge Reviews.
The Knowledge Reviews need to be turned in during the
class session to your instructor.
Diving Day One
Saturday Morning begins with a brief review of any questions from the knowledge Reviews. The morning dives begin with an orientation to the dive sites during which you will complete Advanced Open Water Training Dive 1 on Natural Navigation. After lunch or a short break, Advanced Open Water Training Dive 2 on Compass Navigation is completed. The afternoon will end early, because Advanced Open Water Training Dive 3, your
Night Dive, will begin one hour before sunset.
Diving Day Two
Sunday morning begins with Advanced Open Water Training Dive 4, your Deep Dive. In diving a deep dive is any dive that exceeds 60 ft. After lunch or a short break, Advanced Open Water Training Dive 5, the Wreck Dive is completed. The course is concluded with Advanced Open Water Training Dive 6, a Search and Light Salvage Dive. This is a fun dive where you and your buddy search for an object hidden by your Instructor and bring it to the surface using lift bags provided by the instructor.
After the Class
After completing your Advanced Open Water Class, you will need to come into the store with your Log Book and sign your student folder. Once you have signed your student folder, we can send for your Advanced Open Water Certification card. Your certification card will be returned to US Scuba Center in approximately three weeks where you can pick it up.
